Kyle Smith, Principal and Founder

Mr. Smith has been the Principal of Heritage Renewables, LLC since 2006. He also currently works as the Legislative and Policy Advisor for the Alaska DNR's Division of Oil and Gas. Prior to starting Heritage Renewables, he spent three years as a consultant for Halus Power Systems. He has also helped lead the effort to develop The Nature Conservancy’s NW wind energy policy as a legislative policy intern. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA and a Juris Doctrate (J.D.) degree from the University of Oregon School of Law. In conjunction with running Heritage Renewables, Mr. Smith was a litigation fellow for Futurewise in Seattle litigating land use cases, served as the Executive Director of the Washington Wildlife Federation, and worked as federal-state liaison for the Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR). He is also a board member and past-President of the EOS Alliance in Seattle and co-president of University of Washington Alumni Association-Alaska.
